New footbridge at Parc Girodet reaches crucial stage, Bourg-lès-Valence (FR)

The works of the Girodet island footbridge in Bourg-Lès-Valence has reached an important milestone. On Tuesday 13 June, the cable-staying system was tensioned by unjacking the bridge deck and the mast was freed from its temporary support structure. The footbridge, an integral cable-stayed bridge with a single articulated mast, thus took to the skies. At the end of June, the tension in the stay cables will be adjusted, the surface coating applied and the load tests carried out. The project is due to open to the public next autumn.
