16.084 | Footbridge Bourg-Les-Valence

Fitting in the large refurbishment plan of the riverbanks of the Rhône, the footbridge replaces the existing bridge that crosses the A7 motorway and offers an easier and more comfortable access to Girodet island. With its 23 m high mast this new cable-stayed bridge will be an eyecatcher and a signal for the city. The new theater front plaza and the riverbank park are designed by the landscape architect Michel Desvignes. The design team was completed by the landscape architect Eric-Pierre Ménard, the civil engineering office Otéis and the lighting designer Scène Publique.
The pedestrian bridge is an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge with an articulated central pylon. It is an integral bridge, which means that the superstructure is rigidly tied to its foundations and there is consequently no bearing or expansion joint. The bridge alignment follows flowing curves, offering changing views to the user whose crossing is animated by the cable layer.
