Final design phase for the Bridge Merwedebrug for the A27, Gorinchem (NL)

Since a while Ney & Partners is working together in the consortium ALSEEN for the renovation of the motorway A27 in The Netherlands. Motorists and truck drivers are stuck in traffic jams  between Houten and the Hooipolder interchange almost every day. To improve traffic flow, Rijkswaterstaat is widening and renovating 38 km of the A27 between Hooipolder and Everdingen. Ney & Partners is responsible for the architectural design of all structures and the structural design of, among others, the new Merwede Bridge near Gorinchem.

The new Merwedebrug consists of two parallel bridges, each with a total length of 910 m, made up of a series of prestressed concrete approach bridges, featuring a central arch bridge with a span of 256 m and a movable bridge. The final design of the main span of the Bridge Merwedebrug was delivered.

On Wednesday afternoon, 8 April, the public are warmly invited to visit the new connecting flyover between the A59 and the A27 at the Hooipolder junction. Between 4.00 pm and 7.30 pm, Rijkswaterstaat and ALSÉÉN are organising an open afternoon on the motorway.

On Monday morning, 13 April, the connecting curve will open to traffic at 5.00 am. https://www.a27houtenhooipolder.nl/hooipolder/default.aspx
