What does the future Circular Viaduct look like? (NL)

Under the motto Less is More, Team BESIX NL and Ney & Partners designed the innovative Circular Arch Viaduct for Rijkswaterstaat. Compared to a conventional viaduct, our concept uses drastically fewer raw materials: 90% less cement, a 52% lower environmental impact (expressed in EQ), 59% lower CO2-equivalent and of course, all fully dismantleable and rebuildable.

Our Circular Arch Viaduct is basically a modern version of the classic arch bridge, a centuries-old and proven construction principle. By starting from the ultimate bend-free form, the compression arch, an extremely thin arch girder of Ultra High Strength Fibre Reinforced Concrete (UHSVB) was developed. But above all, the Circular Arch Viaduct is a nature-inclusive and aesthetically pleasing concept with much attention paid to its integration into its environment.
