21.026 | Restoration of fire-damaged roofs BOZAR
-
On 18 January 2021, the Palace of Fine Arts was hit by an extensive fire that caused damage to the roofs of the south circuit, the inside of
certain underlying exhibition halls, and to the roof of the Henry Le Boeuf. On top of the damage caused by the fire, the seepage of the firewater from floor to floor also caused significant damage to the Henry Le Boeuf and the circular corridors. The repair yard includes the reconstruction of the zinc roofing and gutters, the repair of the glass roofs and skylights, the renewal of the techniques and the restoration of the parquet of the exhibition halls. Ney & Partners’ expertise made it possible to maximise the conservation of the steel structures, despite their deterioration as a result of the fire, through appropriate selective interventions. The structures were recalculated on the basis of the original plans, and the bonded glass-steel interface was successfully tested chemically and structurally. - PROJECT DATA
