The project hosts the municipal offices, police station and a public ballroom. The existing façade, wedding hall and court of justice had to be maintained. The concept for the new structure consists of a ‘table’ with steel columns and beams supporting 11 m long hollow core slabs. By limiting the distance between columns, the steel beams were integrated within the thickness of the slab. Above the preserved parts of the existing building, a sophisticated construction sequence was elaborated. At the rear of the building, four annexes have been added, each having their own structural concept. The extension above the existing wedding hall was a challenge in its own right, since no support in this part were allowed.
