POST’s new Luxembourg head office is located in the railway station district, at the heart of a public transport hub, with trams, buses and taxis as well as trains. The building has five basement levels, a ground floor and 8 upper floors (9 including the technical floor). The new building is adjacent to the existing listed Accinauto building, which is included in the project to create an office complex (with a total net floor area of 27,700 m²) for 850 employees. Ney & Partners was commissioned to design the entire structure, including the 30 m-high cylindrical steel staircase. It was possible to retain the buried perimeter walls of the old building. At the heart of the design is the monumental, column-free, steel-framed staircase projecting into the atrium, the general shape of which evokes the helix that gives the building its name. This hub linking the eight floors symbolizes “communication”.
