Construction of a temporary visitors’ pavilion for the ‘Nijmegen European Green Capital 2018’. The pavilion is built in wood, with freshly cut trees placed one on top of the other. Their drying process will cause a reduction of 40 cm in the length of the structure.
Pre-stressing cables are installed inside of the wooden elements, and flexible high-yield steel plates will permit to recalibrate tension during the shrinking process of the wood. Two steel gantries serve as wind bracing.
