The special purpose of this new building program is to connect two universities, the ULB and the VUB, that exist on the same campus. The LIC will act as a motor to bring them together and encourage cooperation in the international context. The site felt like a back area but transformed it became  the lively heart of the campus. The building is compact, but nevertheless provides a lot of space by means of a stacked arrangement of auditoriums, seminar rooms, formal and informal meeting places, workshops, libraries and offices. A roundabout in front of the building connects all soft circulation flows and creates links between the interior and the exterior of the building. It is included in the landscaping plan.
