The moveable bridge across the Brussels-Willebroek canal creates a new link between the centre of Vilvoorde and the new development on the waterfront. The essence of the design by Zwarts & Jansma Architects is the continuity of the connection on both sides of the canal. The new design by Ney & Partners took this as its starting point, and enhances the integration into the landscape. Furthermore, it reduces and rationalises maintenance, and optimises the costs.
