17.037 | Bicycle and footbridge Cents-Kirchberg-Neudorf
-
This foot and bicycle bridge links the neighbourhoods Cents, Neudorf and Wimershof crossing a vally on a height of 50 m. The structure chosen is a suspension bridge with two asymmetrical spans and a single pylon placed on the north side of the rue de Neudorf. This design results in a lightweight structure with a visually transparent appearance.
The pylon is the central element of the structure, taking most of the load. It is made from a light-colored metal box. The total height is approximately 66 m, with 46 m under the deck and 20 m above the structure. The height of the structure corresponds to the current treetops on the Cents and Kirchberg plateaus. The pylon is slender, with a base dimension of 2 m/2 m, which tapers to a minimum of 1.3 m/1.3 m before splitting in two in a diamond shape to allow the deck to pass through. - PROJECT DATA
