PROJECT
17.033 | Cohousing Bijgaarde
-
The Bijgaarde Park, the former Malmar factory, accommodates the largest sustainable cohousing project in Belgium. It is composed of housing units for 57 families in three different buildings. One of the buildings houses a neighbourhood health centre with a car park for 24 cars which has been designed to allow for conversion towards more offices or housing to respond to future needs. Most of the former factory was demolished, but some characteristic brick walls and shed roofs were included in the new design. The neighbouring park is expanded and interwoven into the project.
