06.050 | Canopy Place Rogier

The central structure located on the new Rogier square is a large, round canopy made of steel and tensile. The canopy covers the entrance of the subway, bus stations and a part of the road. In order to reduce interference with existing elements on the site, the chosen typology reduces the number of columns so as to avoid a barrier to the existing environment. The canopy rests on a central shaft which also constitutes an architectural focal point in the square.
