PROJECT
09.033 | Bridge Albert Channel – Oelegem
-
As the Flemish Waterways planned to widen the Albert canal and raise the clearance height for maritime navigation, they contracted the Ney & Partners + Sweco to design the complete study of a generic arch bridge, applicable to 24 locations along the Albert canal. The bridge in Oelegem is the first in that series. Since the spans vary from a pproximately 90 to 140 m, we have chosen a ‘bowstring-bridge’ – the most economical solution for such spans.
