Ney & Partners won design competition ‘Paddepoelsterbrug’, Groningen (NL)

Ney & Partners, together with Holandia Infra, Friso Civiel, Tauw and veenenbosenbosch, has won the design competition for the new ‘Paddepoelsterbrug’, a new cyclist and pedestrian bridge in Groningen, The Netherlands. The bridge crosses the Van Starkenborghkanaal at 10 m height and has a total length of 460 m. By adhering to the design principle “less is more” we have created a bridge that is unobtrusive and blends respectfully into the unique and open landscape. The minimalistic rigid frame structure emerges as a mere stripe across the canal and has no prominent structural systems above the level of the deck. Copyright image: Ney & Partners
