-
The last two weeks before the Christmas holidays 2024, the static load tests were carried out on the site of the Albi footbridge. They consisted out of installing water-filled tanks to validate the structure’s ability to withstand permanent and operating loads. BOAS orchestrated as well the vibration tests (modal analysis and crowd tests) to assess the vibration behaviour of the footbridge under the effect of vibrations generated by 110 participants (including the office of Ney & Partners France walked, jumped and performed synchronised movements). This 200-m-long structure, anchored on the downstream side of the railway viaduct, is between 3.5 and 7 m wide and features five belvederes offering uninterrupted views of Sainte-Cécile cathedral and the Episcopal city. It provides a comfortable and safe link between the historic centre and the right bank of the Tarn, encouraging soft mobility. Ney & Partners are the designers and engineers of the bridge. The opening of the bridge is foreseen before the summer of 2025.The design of the public space linking the bridge to the neighborhoods Castellviel, Pratroussel and the center was design by the Belgian urbanists MS-A was finished already a few years ago.Contractor: Maeg Costruzioni SpA, Technical tests: BOAS Copyright image: Grand Albigeois/Sébastien Pioch
