Footbridge Albi wins Benelux Steel Bridge Award, Utrecht (NL)

We are thrilled to announce that the Albi Footbridge has been named the winner in the ‘Foot and Bicycle Bridges’ category at the Benelux Steel Bridge Contest 2025, organized by Bouwen met Staal and Infosteel in partnership with Rijkswaterstaat (Dutch Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management). The contest celebrates the most exceptional and innovative steel engineering projects across the region.

The jury recognised the complex challenge of installing a new structure alongside a historic railway viaduct. They further stated: “The relatively modest integration of the new deck with the historic bridge is beautiful. The idea of positioning the balconies towards the arches is a stroke of genius. This creates a new whole that surprises without being excessive.”
