First part bicycle ramp footbridge Spoor Noord mounted on site, Antwerp (BE)

Last week, the first parts of the 140 m long loop-shaped ramp of the Spoor Noord footbridge was assembled on site in Antwerp. The heaviest part of the ramp weighs 57t and was lifted with a crane at a lever arm of 72 m. As the bicycle ramp is parallel to the façades of the existing buildings, the construction methods had to be taken into account in the early stages of the design. The bicycle ramp is made of a light steel structure to limit the weight on the existing structure. The cycle path is covered in cast asphalt.
