Construction works begin on Twist Tower, Antwerp (BE)

After some preparatory works, construction on building of the housing tower ‘Twist Tower’ has now started in the north of Antwerp. The housing tower ‘Twist Tower’ consists of 24 levels and will be a total of 81 meters high. It will be built on the existing underground structure of ZAS Cadix hospital (which will keep on functioning during the construction works). The structure consists of slender flat post-tensioned concrete slabs supported by a few high-grade prefabricated columns at the facades and a slim central core. The core provides the horizontal stability of the tower. At level +11 the building twists, which results in a 4 m shift of the position of the columns.
