Cable installation starts on Ringvaartbrug, Ghent (BE)

Ringvaartbrug, a road bridge measuring 106 m in length and 55 m in width, has now entered a new construction phase. This week, the installation of the cables has started. Redaelli, a leading expert in cables and wire technology, is providing and installing the cables and massive cable sockets. The central cable row of the bridge features forks weighing approximately 700 kg each, with diameters of 124-128 mm (90-100 kg/m). A total of 15 cables will be installed in this middle row, and 13 (smaller diameter) cables in each of the side rows. The installation process begins with fixing all cables at both the top and bottom pins, a task expected to take one week to complete. Following this, the tensioning protocol will take place using hydraulic jacks. The Ringvaartbrug, part of a complex infrastructure project including multiple bridges, will soon serve as the main entrance to the city of Ghent via the R4 motorway.
