Brand new Annie Vande Wiele cycle bridge officially inaugurated, Ghent (BE)

The Annie Vande Wielebrug is the new cyclist and pedestrian bridge over the Watersportbaan and connects the north of Ghent, Ghent-Sint-Pieters station and the Blaarmeersen. The bridge is named after Annie Vande Wiele, born and raised in Ghent and the first woman to sail around the world. The city expects more than 3,000 cyclists and pedestrians to cross the bridge on a daily basis. The area around the bridge was also tackled, resulting in safer crossings for pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge is 90 metres long and is a design by Ney & Partners. Copyright image: Stad Gent.
