19.081 | A400M Maintenance hangar
-
As part of the BELUX binational agreement, the C-130’s are replaced by the A400M transport aircraft. Since the existing aircraft hangars are too small for the new transport aircraft, Defense has opted to build a new maintenance hangar at the military airport in Melsbroek. The new hangar measures approximately 75 m by 185 m and provides an area without internal pillars to free up all the space for aircrafts. It is the largest hangar ever designed for the Belgian Ministry of Defense. The construction is carried out by the company Democo while C-Metal supplied and mounted the steel structure.
