PROJECT

09.033 | Bridge Albert Channel-Viersel

Planning to widen the Albert canal and raise the clearance height for maritime navigation, the Flemish Waterways contracted the Ney & Partners + Sweco to design the complete study of a generic arch bridge, applicable to 24 locations along the Albert canal. The bridge in Viersel is the second in that series. Since the spans vary from approximately 90 to 140 m, we have chosen a ‘bowstring-bridge’ – the most economical solution for such spans.
