16.084 | Bourg-Les-Valence Footbridge
The topography and limited space on the Barjon wharf, on the city side, meant that sufficient length had to be provided for access ramps for all members of the public. The combination of the alignment, the elevated walkway and the structural typology result in a unique and fascinating spatial object. It is precisely this spatiality and the design of the unique mast that define the identity of the new bridge. Hierarchically dominated by these two powerful features, all other elements (decking, railings, abutments, etc.) are simple and direct.
